ahh, a kindred cinephile. DOBW is my favorite film of all time, Leslie Cheung's performance in that one is immortal...two scenes - the "one minute friendship" speech to Maggie Cheung, and of course his final words "things that i want to remember, i will always remember"

the Tony Leung finale is the best scene in all of HK cinema and his best moment as an actor as well, I believe. I'm not his biggest fan, but I think that 2 or so minutes right there sums up the image he's been building up over his career.

I like the style of Milla Jovovich in Resident Evil.
Then I looked at it very cool.
ART IS WHAT YOU MAKE OF IT, NOT WHAT OTHERS TELL YOU IT IS.

        ICHI and DOLLS, Oh my...

ICHI the killer and Dolls both take the cake for edge.

Then the lead character of Tetsuo the Bullet Man has some great glasses/frames and I guess the concept inspired a Julius line, although the fashion in the film didn't leave an impression.

On a more underground approach to fashion, albeit politically oriented, the kids in Johnny Mad Dog are some club kid, edgy little cats!

I couldn't imagine Alain Delon in Le Samourai without his hat and trenchcoat. In other words his costume is so integrated with his character - and the entire cool aesthetic of the film - that it seems like the greatest example of film style. I would argue that while many characters may have a cool style it rarely works for the character except to draw attention to the work of the art director... can't think of substantiating examples...
I also like the gangster in Vengeance by Johnnie To, and the leader of the mercenary gang that Costello works with.

I've owned this movie for 2 years and still haven't gotten around to seeing it though I keep meaning to, can't believe I'm such a Mickey Rourke fan and haven't. Tonight's the night.

this one may be a bit obvious but Pacino in Godfather Part II is close to topping my best dressed film characters list. As far as Hong Kong films go I liked Tony Leung (Kar Fai)'s swag in Election 1; 2 was the better film conceptually and thematically speaking but Leung made the first a better piece of high drama, or as my cousin said about it, "it smells more like a movie."

I'd have posted a clip from Le lit de la vierge by Garrel (a simple Damir Doma?), but Acephale already did - your taste seems, at some points, to be quite similar to mine.

endersgame i think Dior Homme's more straight-cut offerings would be good for that purpose.

                      still haven't watched Angel Heart...

Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited to all we now know and understand, while imagination embraces the entire world, and all there ever will be to know and understand.

ICHI is one of the best. I have the DVD in a squishy packet of blood from some Promo edition. Pretty great film.
