I caught a doc called Stevie awhile back that I thought was quite well done.

Capturing the Friedman's was also very good.

I endorse the mentions of Herzog (though I would also like to submit The Great Ecstasy of the Woodcarver Steiner and Fata Morgana) and Chris Marker.

I will raise you Grey Gardens by the Maysles. Also, I will throw in something by Errol Morris: A Brief History of Time.

Oh, and the Subconscious Art of Graffiti Removal is worth a viewing...

^ Ah, cool! Vashti Bunyan has an interesting story, I am sure that documentary is a good watch.

I have a Roky Erikson documentary TiVo'd that I keep forgetting about. I reckon that's gonna be good.

The Jandek documentary was pretty cool, I thought. For Fans Only, I would think.

Hmmm, this may be good, because I teach one of his essays. Thanks a lot! EDIT: Where do I get a copy? Doesn't look like it's been released on DVD.

Zeitgeist is pretty good too. This is really nothing new. The new world order has been in the works since the 18th century (at the latest). Funny that this topic has made its way onto the boards. I've always wondered how people here felt about this.

I thought it was terrible. No offense, but that stuff is childish.

Childish in what sense Faust? The diluted and didactic delivery of the fundamental premise or the "conspiracy theory" in general?

-when we were kings (one of my favorite docs ever)
                                -grey gardens (obv)
-signe chanel (a fun film chronicling the haute couture seamstresses that are employed by chanel and the duration of working on a collection, which i think can still be seen on youtube)
-capturing the friedmans (about a jewish family where the father/son are charged with child pornography)
-piece by piece (covers graffitti in san francisco)
-ganja queen (new zealand woman who was convicted of having a load of weed in her bag at an airport in indonesia and has let to be released)
