    Hello CAD

I'm also at a loss as to how to clean a silk garment. I've got a 100% silk RO shirt that has some minor stains I'd like to get rid of, and I'm not sure how to go about it. I've read in some places that you should dry clean them, and in others that you should only hand wash them.

Maybe this is a trivial question, but is it safe to send a cotton Paul Harnden blazer to the dry cleaners? Just ask them not to iron it?

In my experince, the best way is to hand wash Silk clothes in cold water with some stain detergent. In a clean sink or small tub.

Just remember to never spot-treat Silk. Rubbing/washing one area of silk can cause lightening in just that spot. For moderate stain removal, especially ones in the middle of a pattern, wash the entire garment.

I have a quick question regarding a pair of BBS P9-pants in Cotton/Elastane that I probably would need to wash.
Someone had put a chewing gum where I sat down yesterday when I was out for beers ( this was also right after someone spilt beer on me aswell as putting a good amount of cigarette-ash on me. )
My Girlfriend took care of the pants and sprayed them with some kind of spray for stains etc. The most of the gum has gone away but theres still a small white stain left on the pants. Can I handwash them and try to get it to go away or what would you say?
                Thanks

I heard that the best thing to remove chewing gum from clothes is to freeze it with ice and then it's supposed to be easy to remove, as it just falls off. But I've never tried it. so...
If you're concerned about ripping/damaging your pants, my best advice would be to take your pants to a dry-cleaning specialist. (the chewing-gum thing happened to me a while ago on a pair of TVA wool pants, the dry cleaners did an amazing job).
also, you can try to gently hand wash that part and then wash the pants in the washing machine (I wash my BBS stuff in machine but only COLD water, delicate and short cycle, and it has always been ok).
                  good luck !

That would be my choice too.

Looks like I'm the most important client of dry-cleaners in my small Siberian city as they get so much experience working on my clothes.

The best story was when I brought them one of my BBS pants with all of these:
                      - Wax
                      - Wooden and silver back label
                      - Metal buttons
                      - Leather tags inside (keep them inside pants)

They had no idea how to keep it all undamaged. But finally they did it

                        ^^^^^^

Seems like in Siberia you could just put your clothes outside overnight during Winter

Would cold hand washing a leather MA+ aviator with cashmere lining be okay?

It says wash in specialized laundries on the tag. I just bought one but it kicks up quite a bit.

I recently bought Rick Owens Walrus cargo shorts whose composition is 97% cotton and 3% caoutchouc.
The care tag recommends a hand wash, but do you think I could machine wash them?

yes, choose a lower temperature program (30 C), let them air dry afterwards.
