it definitely flattens it out but it's still hard to keep it even.
    What i do is
    1) mix the gloss + paint
    2) paint it on with a wide brush
    3) apply wax paper over the paint
    4) iron one side entirely
    5) peel off the wax paper (takes of some paint obviously)
    6) repeat as necessary. I've only ever done one coat

Thanks. I'll give it a try this weekend.

EDIT: Hm, didn't turn out how I wanted it to. Shame, but nothing ventured...

I have simply used Acrylic paint before and it turned out really interesting. This might be the cheapest way in waxing pants.

Simplest thing ever: simply spray paint it and then iron from the inside. If the denim's thick enough (it usually is) the paint doesn't permeate the fabric and it looks good while still being soft, if not softer than before. People caress my jeans all the time.

is there a specific kind of spray paint you use for this? sounds like it could be worth trying

No, in fact I resprayed it a while ago with a completely different brand, and all I did was ask for a black spray with a shiny finish.

The steps, since you're actually considering:
                • Put the jeans on a trousers hanger somewhere outside
                • Paint them with the spray (make sure not to overdo it otherwise the excess paint will form a thicker "crust" and will permeate the fabric)
                • Let them dry for half a day - the paint smell will go away
                • Iron them reversely
                • Wear them to death. The paint breaks in great and goes away where the jeans crease, and also if you put stuff regularly in the same positions in your pockets their outlines will show, which I think is very cool.
