The fact of the matter is:
Kobe will gone down in history as the best player in my generation..
Jordan dominated and Now Kobe is doing it and Lebron is now taking over..

If you were a GM and could draft any of the Lakers in order, from the beginning of their careers who would you take?

1. Magic. He is the best Laker of all-time. He averaged a tad less than Kobe lifetime in points (around 5), but almost doubled him in assists and rebounds. In the 1980 NBA Finals he played all five positions and dominated the game with 42 points, 15 rebounds and 7 assists. He was a rookie and 19 years old. Young kids nowadays don't understand who great Magic was because they are blasted with Kobe junk.
2. Shaq. The fact of the matter is, I never liked the guy - met him once though - but this guy DOMINATED the game. He would dunk the ball with Tim Duncan and David Robinson hanging on his back like little flys. His game wasn't pretty, but he DOMINATED the game for years like no one has ever done before.
3. Kareem or Kobe.
Anywho, just stating that because I think it is a great question. I would not draft Kobe over magic or shaq and the fact is, to answer your question, I began to hate the Lakers around the time I was a Kings fan and the NBA handed the Lakers the finals in a nice giftwrapped package. Worst officiated game of all-time in any sport - the kings lakers - well, we all know that game don't we?
If the game was officiated in a way that was fair this wouldn't be something that bothers me. Kobe may be the greatest of your generation but the space between Kobe and Jordan and the other great Lakers is huge. The league is rigged and that's the most troubling out of all of this as a fan of the game. The Lakers have now in my opinion won TWO championships because of the referees, and possibly another, but two there is absolutely no way any one can argue with the facts. And again, Kobe wins another MVP award by , well, default.

Now that this season comes to a crash in the end it will be interesting to see what happens in the offseason with all the free agents. I'd like to see Ray get another ring and Dirk Nowitzki. And well, Bron Bron.

I had no dog in the fight but was rooting for the celts. 7th game was a great hard fought game. both teams were a bloody mess at the conclusion. in the end, lakers proved to be too BIG and the celts too OLD

the lakers got the calls cuz they went to the hole and initiated contact. the celts shot j's. rondo refused to get hit cuz we was scared shit to shoot frees.

Kobe is a great player. an immortal player but he will NEVER be jordan there was no way the lakers were going to win that game by letting Kobe try to take it all on his shoulders. That's why Jackson sat him at the end of the 3rd and the beginning of the 4th. he didn't do it to rest him. he did it to allow him to watch his teammates and make him believe he could TRUST them. it worked and the rest us history.
I'm not a Jackson fan boy but that bit of coaching was pure brilliance

and gasol is the best big in the game and will dominate for years

anyway, i prefer baseball :)
