If you've got enough, I'd go for a jacket. That coarse texture would look pretty bad ass. But if used for a bag I think it would come across somewhat feminine. Not sure why. I think I've seen a lot of alligator purses.

On Topic! Go for a bag! Cool leather, looking forward to see how it comes out.

Gator/croc is lovely stuff and super intense. I've really wanted to use it myself but it's a very very fine line to walk between making something over the top and something sharp. Rick's leather posted above is probably the absolute best and cleanest way I've ever seen this reptile skin used.

Certainly interested in seeing what you make with it!

just curious, how much exactly when you say expensive?

i'd vote for jacket though. the runway pic reference of the jacket is .agree with peasant on it coming across as feminine if made into a handbag.

The Rick croc jacket is divine. Like asho said, the trick is to is to use the natural texture to create a beautiful pattern.
Rick have stitched togheter different pieces to create a perfectly symmetrical pattern

have you decided what do to with the leather? If not, a jacket (like the ro one) would be the best thing to do, in my opinion.
and I do agree with Chinorlz about that ro jacket.

Here they are, haven't cleaned them yet, still some glue spots on there. It's a pretty basic shoe but it was my first attempt so guess it worked out.

To be honest I like the inside leather more than the outside. Its some ultra smooth calf. Might work on a bag with that leather.

It's awesome work for first time! of course it's a lil bit damp (i hope it's correct word to use) and you need some refinement, but, i say it again, very good work! i'll be interesting in to have some projects with you.

that's actually a pretty complicated pattern for your first shoe... if you want the shoes to stand up to wear you'll need to add a heel of some sort to prevent the sole wearing through to the upper. try to find a footwear machinist to give you more professional stitchwork.
