out of curiosity, what's the general consensus/preference between back/sidezips?

i've finally got in touch with Marco, but he's only left with the tall baby calf sidezips in my size (backzips in both heights are sold out). almost pulled the trigger, but i'm thinking twice after seeing Venus In Fur's photos of the donkey backzips from Atelier.

I prefer the look of backzips over sidezips, the fact that backzips are sold out is sort of an indication of which is generally more popular.

Am for the backzips. My view is this....the most beautiful part of Guidi boots (non laced) is the 'creasing' of the leather around the ankle portion as it moulds to your feet and ankle, and the zips being on the side spoils that look...breaks the beauty. Imo.

this was my main concern as well, the placement of the zip at the side affecting the entire "look"... looks like i'll hold out a bit longer for backzips then.

on a sidenote, would it be feasible to get just one size up on the backzips if i have fairly narrow feet, or go with the usual two?

Guidi back zips... horse or baby calf ?

                Thoughts?

                Thanks!

I always think of the back zips being a delicate shoe due to the folds on the front and the form fitting shape. As a result I think baby calf works better due to its softer nature. Thats just my opinion though. The obvious advantage of horse is that they would last a lifetime.

I find that the horse backzips crease better - smoother and more elegant. The calf leather wrinkles a little bit more.

                      Thanks Huckleberry and Vinsu!

Appreciate your thoughts. I've noticed that most places order them in horse, for whatever reasons i don't really know.
In anycase, horse has been what i'm leaning towards for awhile now, while searching for my size and colour.

^Even if they don't have your size in the right material, you can do a special order, right?

^yeah, i've heard that too..it's just that i'd rather be able to try them on to make sure the fit's right, so i've never really considered custom orders...yet

did you try on the donkey?

personally, the baby calf is too delicate for my tastes, so i would go with the horse.
