Well Hauschka is an experimental take on Classical music. Really lovely stuff.

A few years ago Die Schachtel (an Italian record label concerning itself with the avant garde) reissued Dialoghi del presente (as Dell'universo assente, #DS 7), a superb work of Luciano Cilio.

It's meditative, minimal, and beautiful, quite comparable to Arvo Pärt but quite different too. I like to refer fans of Pärt to this album, as it seems to be severely under-rated. It was Cilio's only work, sadly.

            For your consideration:

For those interested in contemporary and avant garde music, there are two great collections that serve as an introduction/foundation, in addition to Die Schachtel. Donaueschinger Musiktage has numerous records available and Deutsche Grammophon released the Avantgarde series vinyl containing works of Stockhausen, Ligeti, Berio, Kagel, Ferrari, and Cage among others.

Buxtehude, reminds me so about the book Demian by Herman Hesse. I especially like to listen to organ music while walking home through the cemetory, watching candles burn and see the snow glitter in the bitter cold.

This! Such an incredibly beautiful cd. I have had it and Lubomyr Melnyk - Corollaries on repeat the last couple of weeks.

I remember coming across this in part 5. It's ran a lot since then. Awesome series, really cool starting point.

Some people know this, but I just wanted to remind that I have a wee classical label. One release so far: Morton Feldman's Crippled Symmetry.
