If you send them an email they shall send you a catalogue with samples of the skins and colours they do.
As for small runs,im not to sure. I know there is a leather specialist in stratford called Crossbow.
And a few seamstresses in teh brick lane area, but they are not cheap by any means.
As for samples at pv, there are many mills that allow u to order as little as 1 metre.
Just got to hunt around really. Also if u need any digital printing on fabric these guys are very good..

SHYE_POSER, yeah I went to their site and did it straight away. Hopefully it will come in the next few days, I'm anxious to see their stuff. Would you educate me on what are their prices like?

Thanks for the printer tip. Weird, usually when people talk about PV it really sounds negative in terms of minimum runs etc. Great to hear that it's not all doom and gloom. Need to go see for myself at some point.

Ive been to Crossbow quite a few times. Asif, the manager is really friendly and they work with a few British designers aswell as students. He said for a simple jacket in leather they charge around 100 pounds to a more advances around 200 or more. I myself are looking to work with him in the near future.

Im going to PV this year. Spoken to some people about some tips and apparently they like business cards! (understandable) just because they want to deal with people who make larger orders.

Im definitely gonna look up Lyria, Tessuto, Beste SpA to name a few.

Anyone knows any other good mills??

So unfortunately I did not end up going to PV this time around. Just bad timing. Anyone on here end up going? Any success/info?

Highly interesting thread, thank you!! I'm reasearching on this bc my wife is starting her own clothing line (mainly blouses and dresses) and I'd like to help her, give her some advice. Already order the book business mentioned in the other thread. Of course it's some kind a hobby thing, but with an attiutude, I think she's talented, and you never know.

My question, apart from PremiereVision et al, can you visit mills like Lyria directly? If yes, what would be the best place for textiles (high quality but low volume )

              Thank you in advance.

This was my firt visit to PV and i think its amazing how well organized the whole fair is. I only had one day there, which was way too little time. Could easily stroll around for many days in there.

They had organized a corner in the Distinction section, where they gathered together samples from different mills/manufacturers depending on the style and type of fabric. This made it all easier to choose which ones to visit.

Overall most of the representatives where very nice and helpful and i managed to order quite alot of samples. Unfortunately many of theese will not take orders under 200m or more.

The climax was definitely my visit to Lyria. Absolutely stunning fabrics and very helpful staff. They also displayed some garments from a certain sz brand. Very nice to see the end product.

PV also has a guide in the handbook with manufacturers that take small orders, that might be helpful in the future for some new designers on this forum.

                /E

I planned to attend Japan Creation but my work schedule didn't allow me. I'm starting a menswear line with my friend and would like to find some good shirt makers in Japan (it was my main purpose of trying to attend JC). Can anyone provide any information on that? Or any suggestions of good shirt makers in general. Your help will be greatly appreciated.
