I have canon 5d mark 2 with many L lens. Thinking about Leica.

What you think about Leica m9, with 35, f2,5 lens
    never played with it.

Do you still use all of those? The only film camera I have left is a G2, because my wife bought me it. I only shoot about one film a year though.

I carry a leica or compact everyday/everywhere - and shoot about 20 rolls a month on a regular basis - sometimes more - sometimes less.

but I will admit to collecting cameras that I feel serve its purpose as a tool for whatever I feel like shooting.

Every time I pick mine up I wonder why I never get as much pleasure from any of my other cameras. Hexar was great too but I don't have it anymore.

Just put some film in mine. Although these days all I photograph is my kids.

narrowed my portfolio down to 75 images right now, gonna go submit it to some places tomorrow. 64 of them were with the G2, the other 11 with the Nikon FM2 that I started borrowing from the University when I first learned how to develop/print my own black & white images. Am pleased with this final cut, gotta hand it to Contax.

there is someone in california that still does them - prices are insane though - and it takes a very long time:

Hey Marsa, I finally did it - I made the M6 purchase! woohoo! It arrives on Wednesday. Have you used any of the Voigtländer lenses? The Summicrons are nice but a bit pricey.

I have been using an M9 for about 6 months now. It is a great camera. I had used a M3 single stroke, 50mm summicron rigid and a 90mm elmar collapsable set up for some time a while ago. The M3 was a joy to use and the results are still first rate. I sold it to finance an extended overseas trip a while ago. Until the M9, no other camera I have owned came close to the M3.

The M9 setup is an M9 with a 35mm Summicron Asph 6 bit and a 50mm Elmar M 6 bit. Both are excellent lenses. The Elmar M 50 I am sure is as good as the old Summicron 50 but I wish I still had it.

With Leica most of what you actually see in the results has to do with the lenses in my experience. So it really depends on whether you want a film camera or a digital camera. I held off on the Leica M digital until they produced a full frame digital sensor. My reason for doing that does not withstand logical examination because I was not using any old lenses so with the M8 I could have purchased any focal length. Maybe it was just that I was used to the 35mm equivalent focal lengths.

In my view unless you have some reason to return to film, digital format is the way to go. I don't discount film it is beautiful and my archive of Kodachrome slides is a treasure. I don't even know if you can get Kodachrome processed any more but if you could it would not be a case of taking it to the local chemist.

I think that the digital files I have produced with the M9 have come close to the old Kodachrome slides and I am happy with that.
