Such terrible news to wake up to.

Luckily it seems all my friends are ok, but still...it's difficult to grasp destruction at such a scale.

Aftershocks can occur for weeks after a major earthquake while the earth adjusts itself to "normal" seismic activity, and the aftershocks can all be in the same ballpark on the scale.

Only time will tell; I hope everything turns out for the best.

Seems like it depends on if they get backup power back on line. Cooling will eventually fail otherwise, I think.

friend says the power plants are heating up. and they're evacuating people within a 3km radius. just in case something goes wrong. everything seems okay now, but they're warning that the biggest one might yet have come, and the local authorities are saying that it could be tonight. just hope for the best.

The article is sketchy, but coolant pump failures + a need to fly in emergency coolant is not exactly working smoothly.

Basically, just because there's a protocol for when things go very wrong, doesn't mean there are no problems.

The state of alert mean that they are taking care of things properly and that doesn't mean that they have lost control of the situation with a real event about to happen ... And that's what some of the media are telling with their headlines.
I'm really hoping otherwise, but this appears to have begun to change for the worse.
