thanks acid and lowry - man, they look great over the boot as well. much better than i thought. and yeah faust, i think carpe diem lace-ups are the best boots ever made. the are perfect for the wearing on the outside of the boot. i will never get rid of mine...it's taken me over a month to decide what my next boot purchase is because the cdiems are so perfect...i know the guidis will rock my world. yours are excellent. i also like the front zips.

^^ yes, the zipper won't lock on one boot. i can still wear the boot but the store is getting me a replacement. as for the size, i need to wear socks with medium thickness to fill the void. i really miss the tight fit the first couple days..

Fade to Grey - your aubergine boots are beautiful - may I ask - what colours in your wardrobe do you find they work best with - I am considering ordering the back zips in dark purple soft horse as I missed out on your boots.

            Horse
            Soft horse
            Babycalf
            Donkey
            Kangaroo

How would these leathers be ranked from softest to toughest?

^From what Marco at PNP explained the order is from softest to most stiff:

              Kangaroo
              Soft Horse
              Baby Calf
              Donkey
              Horse

If anyone has info regarding where the sheep, stag and goat leathers should be placed -please chime in

                I'm surprised Kangaroo's the softest.

My understanding was that Babycalf is the softest.

Kangaroo is soft, thin, "dry" and strong- and the baby calf is thicker -and a bit more "squishy" for lack of a better word. Maybe thickness makes a difference in texture/feel? I have heard from 2 different stores that the Kangaroo is Guidi's softest/lightest leather.

It's also amazing how the same color i.e. aubergine can look very different in baby calf and donkey.

After trying on the S/S '10 Reverse Goat backips and Kangaroo Derbys:

                    Reverse Goat
                    Kangaroo
                    Soft Horse
                    Baby Calf
                    Donkey
                    Horse

Wouldn't sheepskin be softer than kangaroo?

hahahaha, sometimes SZ is too much :-)

Kangaroo is soft and strong. It is the choice of leather for premium soccer shoes, and the makers of those should know a thing or two.

sheepskin is thicker and comparable softness as kanga
I now have four animals in my farm. looking frwd to the soft horse and baby calf, the mere thought of which makes me feel like I'm watching to catch a predator.
@Lowrey - the guidi thread is nowhere near as mind numbing as standing in a packed Irving plaza waiting for snoop dogg to go on for two hours on 4/20 with bluntsmoke being blown in your face with every breath and djed video clips hammering away at any alertness left in your brain.
we lasted 5 songs. the sheer stamina to endure mind numbing boredom by folks is remarkable.
