    Holy moly.....

i was planning on buying a rare pair of rick's boots but now im kinda stuck........

Made of Elk leather which is like my favorite leather...

They're from the older seasons(before 09ss) and i hope at that time rick was making his works with relatively better effort.

    Still want them bad...

do you think shit thing like above will happen to these boots?

Well, the construction of the welt looks similar to me. But you can't get that leather and shape anywhere else, so ...

In any case, a good cobbler can resole and rewelt them. It might not be expensive at all.

I'm okay with delicate materials being expensive...but I'm not okay with unimpressive delicate materials being expensive.
i traded my LUC jeans + Julius belt + Neil Barrett jeans for a blamain biker jeans

/\ Please stick to general shopping threads for these discussions.

It's unintentional structural defect at best and planned obscelence as worst. Just an example of cheapskate manufacturing which you can often encounter in Italian fashion industry.
All the Rick boots I've seen/owned have that "crack", never seen it progress deeper than that though. The detachment on the other hand has never happened to me before.

that's not a crack, it's a joint between the two ends of the sewn rubber piece going around the top of the sole.

and again, i've on several occasions had the upper start to come loose from the sole on rick boots. easily fixed by a cobbler, but absolutely ridiculous all the same, for boots that price point.

but yeah, i put up with it for esthetic reasons.

yes. that was what I'm talking about. I was in Hong Kong when it got really bad, so I took it to a cobbler there. What he did was quite good, he added an additional piece of leather to the upper and sewed the upper to the sole. BUT, he sewed through the whole sole, including the vibram sole that I added.

So, when I have to replace the sole, my local cobbler will have to unstitch the sewing, remove the vibram sole, sew the upper again, then add the new vibram sole again.

                    extra work yet again.

if there is any truth to karma, Rick will reincarnate as a cobbler ...

Not sure what these are exactly...but you don't often see any RO items from the furniture line pop up for sale:
