Atelier New York 10 Year Anniversary

Last Saturday we were honored to be a part of another important celebration. Atelier New York, the cutting edge menswear boutique, feted their ten year anniversary. It was an intimate gathering, with designers and representatives from various labels the shop carries flying in from Europe. To mark the occasion, designers from Yohji Yamamoto to Boris Bidjan Saberi produced exclusive pieces for Atelier (my favorite was a version of Ann Demeulemeester’s feather necklace, dipped in silver and stamped “A NY X 10”).

It is gratifying to see that the small shop on Crosby St. that I stumbled upon ten years ago has grown into an institution with a remarkable space in West SoHo and a reputation for pushing the envelope. Credit Karlo Steel, Atelier’s co-owner, who never shies away from putting together a difficult buy and who has a clear creative vision, which has resulted in a boutique whose influence on men’s fashion is widely acknowledged. For my part, I am happy to have a store in New York that feels like home.
