    Posting Links

So, something happened on the website where all the link now revert to the forums homepage. I'll try to figure out what happened. For now, to make the link work, do the following:

Type in the name of the link (including the http:// portion)

    Highlight it

Press "Control" + "C" on PC or "Apple Key" + "C" on a Mac (this will copy the link)

Click on the icon that looks like a chain link

Paste the link inside the window that says "Link URL"

    Hit "Insert"

That should do it. Let me know if you have problems.

P.S. If you are copying an Imageshack.us link, you can simply paste it in the main window where you are typing text.

Let me know if this doesn't work for you. Remember, we are still figuring out the quirks of this software, so bear with us. Thanks.

    Re: Posting Links

I still couldn't figure out why there is this "/> tag at the end of the image that I posted. Any idea? It's been painful for me to post images (I am using image shack)

Can anyone show me a sample HTML tag (to post an image from image shack) so I can figure out what's wrong with my post? I wonder if it's the problem of my browser.

    Thanks.

Did you try just copying and pasting the link that comes up in the "forums link" window after you upload the image to imageshack?

        Re: Posting Links

        Buckwheat,

When you compose a post you can edit the html of your post using the little "html" button on the right end of the toolbar. When you post an image, the code should look something like:

        <img height="xxx" src="http://imageshack.us/blahblahblah" width="xxx" />

The "/> showing up after your images is an extra closing tag, which in code looks like:

        <img height="xxx" src="http://imageshack.us/blahblahblah" width="xxx" /> "/>

So all you need to do is open the html editor and delete that extra "/> from the end there.

        Hope that helps...

here is a sample of the tag that I copy and paste.

          <p><img src="" /><br />
          &nbsp;</p>

it doesn't have any extra tag but still "/> is showing up....i have no clue.

Thanks anyway...i guess i have to live with it.

OK, I just went and looked at the source code for one of the pictures you posted, and this is what I see:

                <p><img><img src="http://img201.imageshack.us/img201/107/shoe1wm6.jpg" border="0" />" />&nbsp;</p>

The part in red is what needs to be removed.

Hmmm...but that extra "/> tag is not showing up on my screen when I check on the HTML code. That's weird. But apparently it's showing up somewhere I can't see or find. I will try again next time when I post an image.

                  Thanks droogist.

faust, is there anyway to make links automatically link instead of having to write out the link and then manually link it with the link button?

unfortunately not, unless you prefer typing html tags. we'll just have to stick with this.
