"... I put away childish things..." (the kids' clothes thread)

I know it's wrong spending big money on little things for children when they'll grow out of them when they've hardly worn them, but it isn't easy to resist.
To provide some light relief from the heavy Belgian-Japanese menswear emphasis here, I thought maybe people with kids might like to share their good finds, recent purchases etc etc.
    This is a nice site:
Nordic Kids sells funky baby clothes and cool childrens' clothing and more by Scandinavian designers including unique kids clothes from Katvig, Mini Rodini, Molo and Smafolk.

Especially if you're a sucker for animal prints like me:

And they even have baby-sized versions of Pia Wallen's beautfiul felt slippers:

I have a (almost) 3yr old daughter. While we (mostly my wife)
tend to buy better quality clothes made by European labels (Charabia,
IKKS, Microbe, etc.)... we never pay the crazy prices. If you are savvy
you can find good clothes much cheaper than Gap - even designer clothes
(for example a dries van noten girl's blouse in immaculate condition
was just sold on ebay for $13). I definitely would never pay the
Madison Ave. prices - that whole scene is an incredible turn off.

I know! baby shoes are impractical because they never stay on, but you have to admit they're cute.

Faust, I agree that the posh childrens' clothes market is gross and designer clothes for kids don't interest me much. The whole quality fabrics for mini people scene is pretty silly too, but... check out these Danish raw woolens for babies (from www.lanacare.com)...

a poster on supertalk bought his little girl a pair of samurai jeans (a high-quality japanese denim brand). most people that buy these jeans are interested in breaking them in and producing a great fade- his daughter did it better than most adults!

Here's the pic from the link above (hope that's OK to do)

That is impressive work she's put in on that raw denim. I kind of like her sneakers too. Wonder if they do them in grown-up sizes.

<edit> much as I hate to be cynical, I'm now slightly doubting the authenticity of this as evidence of the rough-riding lifestyle lived by three-year-old girls in Wisconsin. Look at the heavy knee-wear... is it high enough to be from her own knees? Someone please restore my faith!

haha, of course they do them in grown-up sizes- the kids sizes is the odd thing.

well, they don't look sanded and who else could fit into kids jeans?

Actually, those are Earnest Sewns, so they're pre-distressed (over 16+ hours of treatments).

                Man,
if that kid could produce wear like that on heavyweight selvedge denim,
I'd send them my APC's pronto (which still don't look very much used
after a year of on-and-off wear)...

You'd be surprised (well, I certainly was) how awesome Gap Kids can be. I bought this for my daughter, she looks just stunning in it.

One wonders where it will end, when everything has become gay.
