        I read this this morning..............
so unfortunate to hear, didnt know him, but to die at 28, is not to be accepted as normal, and sad to hear an heroin overdose.............
“You know,” he says, with a resilient smile, “it is a hard world for poets.”

i saw him a 2 weeks ago walking down christie street looking like he was pretty out of his mind. it didn't help that he wasnt wearing any shoes, either. just walking down the street in jeans and a shirt, no shoes.. somehow he managed to get past the bouncer and get into the bar he wanted to go to.. anyway, pretty sad news - especially considering how young he was.

The most messed up part of it is he has a kid (which probably isn't surprising either). I'm all for irresponsibility as long as you're only messing up your own life, but that poor kid will probably be even more messed up now.

I would think the kids life will be a whole lot better without a junkie for a father.

For the record I thought he was an absolutely dismal artist (Saatchiculating on magazine cutouts doesn't mean you just made Piss Christ II), I just don't like seeing people die and do acknowledge his importance in representing the "downtown hipster artist".

If your father was a junkie would you rather he had died at such a young age or that you got the chance to know him? People voice such judgmental and ultimately stupid opinions it's mind boggling.

On one hand I find it hard to empathize and relate with the lifestyle of the scene he was caught up in, but on another I do think it is a shame he died young and as well feel for the situation of the child and any loved ones he left behind. I read the NY mag piece after seeing this post, it was the first time I had heard of him...he did seem to have a passion for what he did, at any stage of his development, and even though I am not familiar with his works I respect he blazed his own trail despite having had the open door to just coast... RIP.
