I'll have to disagree here. Nothing can save pointy toes. Leave that to Manolo.Fashion is a form of ugliness so intolerable that we have to alter it every six months - Oscar Wilde

But to Lang's credit, at least his looked like they belonged on high-class assassins; the kind with very sharp hips and even sharper cheekbones..

Oh I love the pointy toed Helmut pumps in all their iterations. I just adore all the hard lines and sharp edges. They go so well well with a Helmut suit. Manolo's do nothing for me, I always have to think of Anna Wintour and that terrible pair of sling-backs she wears all the time. That being said my best shoes comment was meant for the strappy heels. They are simply wonderful and surprisingly easy to wear.lavender menace

Verdandi, of all the pointies out there, I'd probably wear HL's if the outfit called for it
(you know, if ever I turned professional assassin). But for now, with pencil skirts.
But yeah, the open-toed thin-as-a-string stilettos are hot, hot, hot!!.

Yes even though as much as appreciate lang it never really was my thing, i guess i feel i am not from his time. The shoes always struck me maybe the most. Their simplicity, pure shape and minimalism, but also while using familiar references in such a sexy and clever way... it was so subtle and minimal it oozes appeal. Leather, metal, stockings, rubber in their most basic forms. I feel the point is more of a statement than a thing of beauty, the other bare/rounder shapes are perfectly balanced. If my girl wore suits i would want her to wear lang on her feet.
On a side note carol's fe-male footwear is very sexy also, it has a similar vibe..

As a young adult I made some art but then I got sidetracked...
ouch Helmut, that hurt. But he looks good and seems to be really content with his art.
I am still mad that the exhibition of his work at the Mak in Vienna got cancelled. He gave his entire graphic and corporate archive to them.lavender menace

got sidetracked (where2kop holster bag) & found this nice little time capsule from 1998
not entirely about Lang, but still interesting nonetheless.

Helmut is going to make rugs.
From WWD
Helmut Lang, who bowed out of fashion in 2005 and began a career making art, is tiptoeing back into textiles — rugs, to be precise.
The acclaimed New York-based Austrian is among a dozen prominent art world figures whose designs are to be realized by Henzel Studio, a luxury rug firm based in Gothenburg, Sweden. Richard Prince, Jack Pierson, Marilyn Minter, Juergen Teller, Anselm Reyle, Leo Gabin, Robert Knoke, Mickalene Thomas, Scott Campbell, Linder Sterling and the duo of Eli Sudbrack and Christophe Hamaide-Pierson, better known as Assume Vivid Astro Focus, round out the first edition of what’s dubbed Henzel Studio Collaborations.Fashion is a form of ugliness so intolerable that we have to alter it every six months - Oscar Wilde
