Fashion is a form of ugliness so intolerable that we have to alter it every six months - Oscar Wilde

With the exception of IVH, InAisce, and Sruli Recht, I'm pretty bored with fashion right now... but the non-black looks in the Oblivion photoshoot offer fascinating glimmers of something new."He described this initial impetus as like discovering that they both were looking at the same intriguing specific tropical fish, with attempts to understand it leading to a huge ferocious formalism he characterizes as a shark that leapt out of the tank."

^ And two out of your three favs have severly cut back on clothing design/production. Perhaps the Oblivion shoot shows the surf town is dominating your esthetics? I think it would take a good deal of energy to dress in ways so counter to one's surroundings- both the people and environment
I divide my time between a small town and large town and my tries to steer me away from wearing somethings in the small town.

^ I've spent tons of time being counter to my environment, both mentally/intellectually and aesthetically. (For example, I'm interested in both aesthetically oriented continental philosophy and pure math / theoretical physics ... and I think the difference between those two areas is even more extreme than the difference between dark fashion and a surftown environment. I've also worn rick, julius etc in a surftown environment countless times.). The reason I'm bored with dark fashion is mostly because the emerging aesthetic phenomena in music (eg dynooo's these flaws are mine to war with and sentinel's hybrid) that I find most interesting mesh better with greys, and even color. That said, I am curious to see black based fashion that meshes with music like Bernd Alois Zimmerman's Photoptosis: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=97C_BamTy9k ."He described this initial impetus as like discovering that they both were looking at the same intriguing specific tropical fish, with attempts to understand it leading to a huge ferocious formalism he characterizes as a shark that leapt out of the tank."

Thank you for the kind words, trentk.
One a personal level I am not bored, and hope to never be bored with, ahem, "dark fashion." It's just the cultural place I come from.
However, my interests as a fashion editor, journalist, and simply a fan, range wider. Ultimately, I care about whether fashion is interesting, color notwithstanding (we don't need to go further than Alexander McQueen here). And I don't want StyleZeitgeist magazine to be pigeonholed as gothy - there are other publications for that (they shall go unnamed for reasons of tact here).
I find the whole overtly gothy thing too narrow and ultimately juvenile. I have grown up, others have grownup, we have retained certain values and tastes, but the forms have shifted, became more elegant, interesting, deeper, less costumey, and so on.
And that's what I'm trying to do with SZ mag - yes, to have a very coherent aesthetic universe, but one that is not defined by color. I also see SZ mag as a place that draws together various creative disciplines (fashion, art, photography, music, architecture, interior design) that are united in their aesthetic and cultural approach.Fashion is a form of ugliness so intolerable that we have to alter it every six months - Oscar Wilde

This seems as good a place as any for these YY photos- especially since Marizio Cattelan's hand is just, if not more important, in these shots. I poked around online and its easier to send everyone here:

(I've yet to see an uninteresting image quoted from Toiletpaper magazine)

Recently I tried out my own editorial while in Japan. Each editorial consists of the same outfit as the focus is also on photography as well as other views and angles of each outfit, rather than the standard 1 outfit view.
Just a glimpse of them. Check out my website for the full editorial.
any feedback would be good too!
