Re: Junya Watanabe Paris F/W 08.09
Shit, looks like my Bloomingdales gift certificates are just going to have rot for a whole year. I really hope more pictures will reveal something good.

Re: Junya Watanabe Paris F/W 08.09
I was kind of hoping for his biker-esque look to be paired with the dandy look from his last two collections and have that be this seasons aesthetic but I guess that isn't the case.
I like it, but, it looks a lot like his Spring offering to me."because the young are whores. dealers come to carol to get the rock"

This is about as far away from your style as I could imagine Faust, so i knew you'd hate it. Can't see many SZrs liking it....Cas was my one big hope!

Re: Junya Watanabe Paris F/W 08.09
yeah this seems to be a continuation of what he began with the SS collection...as a viewer i enjoy what i can see of the presentation - i get the sense these are clothes people would wear in an arbitrary train station in 1800s America, going places...however as a shopper, I feel the way I've felt about Junya's past few collections. They look nice when art directed, but kinda unrealistic when translated to everyday life. Like those leathers from F/W 07...they were like plate mail!
Junya's clothes are ridiculously expensive though, $800 for distressed blue jeans with some grey linen trim this season?!

Johnny, I'm going to back you on this one - I like it. I need to see more pictures to get a more cohesive feel of the collection, but the small details and cut of the blazers (and I don't even really like blazers) look great.
I can imagine great coats pairing with what I see so far.

I love what I see so far. [64] The jacket with the piping is really lovely. It would be very cute to do a women's collection with similar inspiration...whatever that inspiration turns out to be. [73]

Well, I can't hate anything he does. I respect him and love too much of his work to do that. But, yes, it does not appeal to me personally.

Re: Junya Watanabe Paris F/W 08.09
Johnny- Yea, I loved the SS collection so I really enjoy what I see here so far. If there's some leathers mixed into here then it will most likely turn out to be my favorite collection so far.
I agree about his clothing being very editorial. In the latest 10 for men, they had a fantastic spread of a model in a full Junya SS08 levi's striped denim (I think it's denim) suit and it looked amazing! Now, whether that would be appropriate for every day wear, I don't know....but I've seen weirder things being worn. :D
Can't wait to see the rest of this..."because the young are whores. dealers come to carol to get the rock"

Ok, I am taking back my initial reaction. I love some of these suits, especially the jackets! I might have to dust off those gift certificates after all!
