I never used to care about make-up before, but I can't help feeling the models look really awful, and the hair.. everything is a mess, not in an artistic and good-looking way, but just plain horrible..
I can't say I'm very impressed by the clothes either. After viewing this collection, there is just a little feeling of disappointment left. Times are bad..
zamb that last point about what a recession and business problems can do is just what i was thinking as i scrolled down these pics...thanks for posting. YY seems to have experienced a second wind - this is his freshest and funkiest womens collection in a while. Take that, Balmain.
I've seen those miniskirts a couple times so far. Really digging the longer pieces and the jackets are awesome. Us men are getting the short end again.
I like it overall but feel some of it is hit and miss. I've always thought hair and makeup can either hurt a presentation or seal it in terms of success.
Just thought the horror hair was a bit too much and the makeup was a total fail.
I tend to be attracted to subtlety in presentation...the clothes look wearable but it would be nice to visualize them on a woman who hasn't just climbed out of a freshly covered grave.
The juxtaposition of the shocked geisha/zombie girl wearing the flowered Little House on the Prairie dress seems even extra awkward.
I dunno, I think the hair and makeup goes with the worn vintage-y fabrics. It's like you not only pulled the moth eaten dress out of your great grandmas old chest, but you pulled the model out of the chest as well. This seems very young and edgy for Yohji which is a good thing IMO, nice to know he still has some tricks up his sleeve and can stay current. I'm also surprised by the body hugging fit of much of this, or maybe he's always done this for women but I haven't noticed?
Save for a couple of pieces, I really don't love it. Way too stiff and contrived, to the point where some of it actually looks like it's done on a really tight budget.
