The vest over short-sleeved tshirt thing is a little to retro 90's for my taste (it reminds me of the metallica fan class bully from when I was 12, basically - that was 1994). It would look better with either long sleeves or short sleeves of less conventional length, like just above or under the elbow.

This advice may or may not stem from personal neuroses from my teenage years, I'll leave you to take it with a grain of salt

nice pick-up. but i think a pair of boots, or clogs or anything a bit less conventional than ramones would look better with the 'stag pockets' of the vest. or at least remove the laces from the sneakers.

I know and I think my statement can be read both ways, no?

Meaning it´s funny to me he associates the short-sleeves-vest-combo with the nineties, because they remind me of Han Solo, who´s clearly not situated in the before mentioned century.

I should pay a little more attention to my English writing.

Han Solo's shirt has long sleeves though. It's the shortness of the sleeve that gives the 90's vibe, as I explained when I suggested longer sleeves would nullify this comparison.
