Maison Martin Margiela AW03 Artisanal Sleeves Jacket
SOLD: AW03 Maison Martin Margiela Artisanal Sleeves Jacket
Worn as closing look of the Autumn-Winter 2003 Collection's fashon show (see last photo)
The garments of the Artisanal collection (carrying the label numbered ‘0’) are the most representative of the deconstructivist period of Martin Margiela - inaugurated around 1988 and remained in production until about 2006. The collection consisted of garments, fabrics and accessories reworked by hand – hence the label “Artisanal” – for both women and men. Since 1988, Maison Martin Margiela used found garments, accessories and other second-hand items – or at times new ones – skilfully transforming these raw materials into entirely new creations. Each piece was made or reworked entirely by hand in Maison Martin Margiela’s in-house atelier in Paris. Each item is completely unique and produced in very small quantities
Up for grabs here is THE Margiela Sleeves Jacket, one of the most emblematic, yet also most versatile Artisanal pieces ever made: a jacket cleverly constructed out of only upcycled blazer sleeves
Very rare, this piece belongs in a museum
