    shaving thread

Didn't see a thread for this started.

Any of you guys have a passion for shaving?

I graduated from the disposable razors a few years ago and shave with a safety razor.

Have not tried the straight razor yet since I feel it isn't conducive to my lifestyle right now.

    What do you shave with?

i have a goatee so i have a trimmer, an electric razor, a Gillette and a safety razor, i prefer the gilette for a close shave, occasionally i use the safety razor. but for most convenience its a combo of electric trimmer and electric shaver

I use an electric razor on weekdays simply because of time constraints. On weekends, however, it's a wet shave with a straight-edge razor, shaving brush and soap.

How often do you need to sharpen the blade on the straight razor?

I find that shaving with a safety razor saves tons of money compared to the disposable kind.

I've been using a merkur slant bar with feather blades, a rooney badger brush, trumper violet shaving cream and proraso pre-post cream afterwards for the past five or so years. Quick and comfortable.

I use feather blades too. Tried a bunch but the feathers really do feel like the sharpest.

Also use the proraso pre-post cream.

What is the violet shaving cream like? It has a scent?

Not very often, its mostly by feel. I use a straight razor though which you insert regular safety razor blades in, best of both worlds!
