No, the rest of the jacket is smooth but the spot is rough and almost rubbery in its feeling...

Depending on what you're saying it seems that it's really more of a foreign material kind of problem than a damage. In this case my first step would be going to professional dry cleaners, but no idea if it will affect ccp finish.

Yeah, I believe it really is some sort of stain, something that has penetrated the leather from inside the pocket. I asked the seller what it could be, but he said he didn't have a clue. He has never "used the pocket". According to him the stain "wasn't there" when he put the jacket in the body bag and had it shipped.

So, yes, the jacket (or rather the stain) has to be cleaned. The question is: Should I try to fix it by myself or go for a dry clean of the entire jacket?

It's really hard to believe that this stain appeared during shipping cause there's no reason for it though.

Do you have any ideas how to fix it by yourself?

I'd go for a dry clean, but of course asking first if this process will affect finish of the jacket by any way.

Yes, I'm rather restrictive when it comes to washing my clothes (i.e. pants, jackets, knits etc). I prefer to have them aired, maybe brushed a bit. So dry cleaning is a big step for me.

Unfortunately the leather guy couldn't answer how the dry cleaning process would affect the jacket, namely because he didn't do it himself, he had a guy who picked up the clothes once a week and took them out of town for his special treatment.

Maybe you should ask this leather guy for this cleaning guy's phone number and call him for more details? Especially when it comes to cleaning that expensive jacket being very careful is always a good move.

from what i was told by my dry cleaner there are only a handful of qualified specialty leather cleaners. i am in dallas and the garment i had cleaned was sent to chicago and was there for at least 2 weeks.
dying and coming back gives you considerable perspective

This leather specialist is considered to be the best in Stockholm and the fact that they only use this particular dry cleaner from a small town outside Stockholm indicates that he is good, but I still have to find out more about him before trusting him with CCP.

If it's so then I think it will be fine and he'll help you. Anyway, still be careful.

                        Got this pm:

If you bought the CCP from luket I hope you were told about the stain before hand. You mention that the seller put it in a body bag to ship and didn't know how it got there which sounds like he didn't notice it before hand? I remember someone posting about finding a stain like that in the leather care thread at the bottom here:

                        I answered:

Yes, I bought it from luket and he never told me about the stain. All he said before shipment (but after I paid him), was that the leather got a bit dusty when he put it in the body bag, but that a wipe would get the dust off. I was told that the leather was as new, in perfect condition etc and paid with that in mind. Now he suggest that I might have dropped something on the leather, causing the stain myself...

Apparently the seller has discussed this stain some weeks ago, just before he contacted me (after seeing my wtb in sufu). But now he acts as if he doesn't even know what I'm talking about.

                        He writes:

Has it somehow leaked dye? Did you drop an acidic liquid or something on it?

                        Then:

I have no idea what to tell you, I literally never used the pockets and checked that they were empty before posting the jacket to you, and nothing was amiss.

                        Then:

I really don't know what to tell you as that wasn't there when I posted it! Was the package wet at all when you received it? My only guess is that it somehow was scuffed in the body bag? My suggestion would be to get it too a leather specialist/cleaner/restorer to see what they say? My apologies I've never seen this, nor dealt with bison leather before...

                        And just recently:

Have you stored it in a humid enviroment?

By the way, should I ask for a refund? Would I be entitled to one, I mean if I address this issue with paypal? I sure as hell didn't pay him as a gift, just in case anything like this would happen.

Come to think of it the seller was quite eager that I'd just pay it as a gift...

Or maybe I should take these questions to another thread...

Link that you've posted doesn't seem to work btw.

If you're unhappy with that jacket then go for it and try to get refund, or just maybe partial refund if you would like to keep this jacket. I'll start by just trying to solve this case with seller.

                              Sorry.

                              Here it is:

Apparently Luket posted pictures of the jacket that he then removed, replacing them with the word Sorted (maybe it meant Never mind - I've sold it).

But judging from the replies from Chinorlz it's the exact same stain.

Yes it was the exact same stain/problem. Very dishonest of him...
