Great read. I had no idea he was one half of Commix. Feel him on the wanting to remain anonymous tip. Can think of a few DNB producers that moved to techno, as he mentioned not wanting to seem like jumping on the bandwagon. I never paid much attention to his work as Shifted, just in passing. Was a fan of Call to Mind LP I think on metalheadz when it was released, probably the last DNB LP I can think of really diggin'

Mentioned on last page digging more into Developer's catalog. Had "Modularz16_A03_Developer_-_In_Pure_Form_03" on repeat for quite some time earlier, couldn't get enough.

BTW, Did ya guys follow http://mnmlssg.blogspot.com/ ? Was a treasure, really don't know of any other dedicated blogs that could hold a candle to ssg =/ are there any out there that I'm not aware of ?

resolution, thanks for sharing the info. All of you seem to provide something of value on this thread.

I find it fascinating how my own explorations led me to this type of music, even when there was no real titles to what it was called.

We all know the vein runs deep in the techno genre; i.e. ambient, electronic etc. so let's have fun and go a little further back.

Pierre Schaeffer -- Études de bruits (1948)

And not so far back. Jean Michel Jarre - Oxygene 1976

RA's interveiw with Jean Michel Jarre

RA's Aaron Coultate talks to the iconic French artist about vintage synths, vaporized techno and society's fear of the future.

It was amazing - just like last year.

                      Personal conclusion:

                      Ups:

Miles Whittaker - dark and intense set, looping the melodic fragments of Demdike Stares 'null results' over and over into destruction

Powell - playing a euphoric vinyl mix of old school techno, ebm and acid, the perfect choice for the fuckin hot aftershow down at Tresor and a great contrast to all the modern and sometimes too rationalistic post-techno at Atonal

                      Downs:

Caberet Voltaire - uninspired and conceptual disappointing

Food - the street food market closed too early, really

I chose Murcof for the 4D-system, because I thought the ambient textures would be more interesting. Nice experience, but too many people just staying in one place instead of wandering between the speakers. Maybe it can be seen as a continuation of Stockhausens Raummusik (which was more impressive anyway when I had the chance to experience a presentation with a proper sound system some years ago).

                      Looking forward to next year!
