There's a couple quotes in there that I want to c/p to give these videos some context but can't. God damn it, NYT. Anyways, was digging around for archival runway show footage and came across these.
Start at 18:45 for this one:

Hi All,
Was browsing ye olde yahoo Japan for an UC jacket, found it, but was shocked (shocked!) to see it's made in China?!?

This jacket is usually a staple and I got the last version(FW15) which was made in Japan.
Is this a new thing for this collection? Has the quality suffered? What's going on?! Not to be prejudiced against Chinese manufactured goods, but a lot of the charm of UC was that most things were made in Japan, especially the suiting which was amazing. Usually I get these pieces blind online but will check them out in person, I'm sure I won't be able to tell the difference, but still.....
TL;DR: Why UC why?
Ha, weird - everything I own is made in Japan. I also don't mind, as long as it's reflected in the price, but yeah, can't help feeling a little jolt...

I have the odd t-shirt from recent collections that was made in China (I think some of the Mad store stuff is as well) but figured the more complicated/statement pieces would still be made in Japan.
Oh well, looking forward to Takahiro Miyashita The Soloist: Made in Turkey
Undercover will begin showing menswear on the runway this June! And I got to break the news ;-)
