For the U.K. I quite like Merchant & Mills. Their bamboo has a beautiful drape.

that merchant & mills link is great. the british dry oilskin looks really nice; im really interested in getting hold of something like that in black to make a pair of trousers. hopefully they'll develop a nice patina through wear as the oil comes off.

i've been looking into antique textiles to make clothes with. while browsing i found a good few sites for japanese folk textiles; the textures are really interesting and (especially boro patching) and in a sense recreating clothing with the fabric follows the tradition. i'm not sure how well these textiles will take dye in practice though, if anyone has experience with this?

Antique & vintage Japanese folk textiles of the 1800s and 1900s including boro textiles, boro jackets and clothing, tsutsugaki, hemp, kasuri, katazome, Tsunobukuro, vintage fabrics, farmer's clothing, boro, vests and textiles for sale

does anyone have more resources like habu linked above? i'm looking for muted, rough textured and rigid fabrics with a dry handle in particular. something like fw11 luc waxed cotton that was used for the j-pants.

Does anyone know which online retailer carries black cotton lining fabric that is softer than the usual standard lining fabric?
Any cotton lining fabric that i found in my city is just the normal thing. Standard soft, but not as soft as the lining found on most designer clothing that we know here.
Quick help would much appreciated as my work is far in progress and i'd like to finish it soon. Thanks! :)

Most of the very soft linings in clothing that I own contain a percentage of cupro. Cupro is a remanufactured cotton fiber, disastrous to the environment, and incredibly soft. Similar but less harmful remanufactured cottons would be rayon and tencel - look for cotton fabric with a percentage of one of these fibers in it as well.

i'm on the lookout for a good mid weight wool/linen blend (60-40 or so). finding this pretty difficult with the limited resources i have. does anyone know where i'd be able to find some?

i had good results boiling this fabric. the wool shrank whilst the linen didn't, which created a really nice irregular texture.

Merchant and Mills has a supply of 45/55 wools/linens at the moment if you're still interested.

I haven't had any issues with it. Have you tried a different web browser?
