Re: Comme des Garcons S/S 08 Paris

Just saw some of the stuff at my local store yesterday. Tried on a mid layer jacket on its own and it looked rather comical at first when worn by itself but I think it is possible to make it work without the complementary layers. I wonder if anyone will buy the 3 layers in a set, given the individual pieces are priced lower than a comparable item from older cdgh+ collections. I fear that the mid and outer layers will be left on the shlves at the end of the season as the people I saw were only purchasing single layers (the normal ones).

Turns out the jackets are separate after all?! Wow...have yet to see this stuff in person but now i'm intrigued to see how it works. Still think it would've been cooler if they were attached as one item, like double and triple-blazers. That'd no doubt be much more difficult in construction though. That said, this is my favorite CdG collection in quite a while.

No offense tofans of the Thom Browne look, but THIS is how you do the too-tight, shortened-sleeve blazer look...

I think that's a case of apples and oranges...other than the keywords "too tight, shortened sleeve", they're not even in the same universe. not saying which one is better, but look at that and then look at a thom browne jacket, the drape, silhouette, fabric, construction, everything is so different i don't think that's a valid comparison.

Blazers are about us$1000 each and shirts are in the mid us$200s. JP retail is usually 20 to 30% lower than the prices here.
