[quote user="philip nod"]does this reek of thom browne or is it me? a lot of designers keep giving him the nod. he may last longer than you think, faust.

But Junya was doing shrunken proportions--especially jackets--way before Thom Browne, no? [73]

yes. i actually wrote a very clever/mean thom-bashing reply... before SZ crashed.

Second season of Junya gone prep, what gives? I really love this, but I suppose I'm always a sucker for tiny blazers with cool detail. It does seem the Thom Browne proportions are catching on everywhere (tho I know he didn't invent the shrunken suit). These Junya pieces are more interesting however, and they'll certainly be cheaper so I'm stoked about this hitting stores.

I'm hoping the three button jackets with contrasting stitching on the buttonholes really do have 6 functionalbuttonholes so as to permit assymetrical closing. I guess so far we're a bunch of people covering the good to wow spectrum. I'm more of the good persuasion but I love, at the risk of repeating myself, how wearable this is.

I wonder if any of the items are collabs? The jeans are probably Levis.

I suspect that the genius in this collection might lie hidden within the garments.

I think the duffles and donkey jackets are collabs. If you look closely you can see a label on the outside of some of them just under the shoulder. I also suspect brooks brothers will be there in the shirts, since I think there is a brooks collab for this summerand he sometimes carries this on a season.

Watanabe's womens clothing has so much more intensities to it,

why maybe I'm always a bit disappointed when I come to see his Man.

I must say it is good, I do like some of these jackets detailing and cut.

This reminds me of the same feeling I have towards Dries Van Noten,

his Woman is also much more desirable than his Man. [64]

And it's a shame I'm sitting here today expressing the same sentiment,

They are really two of the most interesting designers for women

there is, I must mention Yamamoto and Demeulemeester in the same

breath if that's possible. I really do hope that some day they will change my mind![51]

McQueen and Chalayan are the two geniuses I usually add. McQueen more for the flamboyance of his menswear rather than the comparative blandness. I think Ann and Yohji do wonders for men just as they do for women.

I thought was understood that with Junya...well CDG as a whole, Yohji, Ann D., Balenciaga, etc... that the menswear was mainly an afterthought.

except Balenciaga, this is absolutely not the case. what makes you say that? their design concepts are different for each sex (i.e. read Junya's menswear manifesto on the blue tag, Chalayan's concept of what men should wear is along the same lines, etc.), but it's definitely not an afterthought.

Maybe because when I am looking at entire collections I am often envious of the work that goes into some of the womens pieces.
