    Waxing Work

I am doing my own jacket at the moment. The material is black raw jeans and I would like to distress/impregnate by waxing.

Has anyone ever done something similar? I haven't tried out yet but thought I could just take some normal candles and first rub it on the surface and then make it melt (perhaps with hair dryer or old iron). But if someone knows another procedure I could use the advice.

    thanks

I believe Mike Lowery did a shirt with a wax over it so I'm sure he could chime in and help you out. :)

Use parafin, beeswax or "waxwear." you will need something that is not as heat stable as a typical candle: 1. so that you can easily rub off and into the material you are treating, and 2. so that the hairdryer will work help melt the product and set it.

your local art supply or even fabric store should have all the materials.
