If you want to stay near the beach look for places near abbott kinney in Venice. there are some hidden gems off of Palms between Lincoln and AK. Rose blvd has some cool spots too but can be a bit noisy with morning traffic. Also check out places near the Venice Canals and Marina del Rey.

I'm with Andrew about the east side vibe. I surf as well so it just depends on what type of trip you want to have and if you'll have wheels or not.

+1. The places listed here carry many of the designers we're so fond of here on this forum. Maxfield carries some CCP, too.

If you're looking not simply for streetwear, but also also business/formal menswear, Shop the Finest is a great place to check out as well.

i'm not a fan of the idea of it being in los angeles because i'm any strong proponent of the city, but i do think he knows an audience, and can benefit greatly from both the publicity and image that comes with doing a show there. him doing this whole californian type look, as shite as it is, seems to be working. venue counts for a lot and now that he's ditched the glam rock look that was, if not good, palatable, i think at least power to him for going all out, even if he's making dinosaur jackets and rainbow flip flops.

Too many to list, but one for sure is the Tomy's Burger at the corner of Rampart and Beverly Blvd., located a little to the west of downtown LA. It is open 24hours.

If you go back through the thread there are some good food recommendations, also, buy a copy of Los Angeles magazine- very thorough listings.

As for art, architecture- downtown has Frank Gehry's Music Hall (not much for tours, but this one is worth it), MOCA and the new Eli Broad Museum. Make an extra effort to see Rudolph Schindler's House at 835 N. Kings Rd., West Hollywood- a real gem that also hosts art exhibits. If you are so inclined. H. Lorenzo and Maxfield aren't too far away. Frank Lloyd Wright has the Hollyhock House and, if you are into the Arts and Crafts movement, The Gamble House in Pasadena is an amazing integration of architecture and furniture. The Malibu Getty Museum is a recreated Roman villa with appropriate art and the Getty Center in L.A. has had some incredible exhibitions- go online to see whats up now.
