    CDG Guerrilla Store - LA

Not sure if this has been posted yet, but...

Comme des Garçons is taking its "guerrilla store" concept to America.
Scheduled to open on Feb. 16 for one year, the boutique will take up
residence in a former bank in downtown Los Angeles at 125 West 4th
Street. The industrial space features 25-foot-high ceilings, concrete
    floors and white-tiled walls.

        downtown, thats hardcore [86]

I really like the concept, especially when they're opened in interesting facilities, a bank sounds like such a cool place to convert to a boutique!

          very cool!

So typically, how long do these stores stay open for?

Also I'm not 100% clear on the concept... these are opened directly by the CdG company and not a 2nd party? So the idea is for CdG to choose a location, set up shop for 6 months and then close it down?

the stores are operated by locals usually, and they're open for a year. except the Berlin store, which I think is permanent, the "base" guerilla store.

the locations are usually somewhat unusual, ie not on popular shopping areas - in basements, warehousesand so forth.

              the space is pretty legit

im guessing their taking over the 06+ store for a bit

the 2nd party store is pretty cool but not much traffic as its kinda of a word of mouth.

right now its a sneaker store in front "blends" and if you know about the back its 06+, i bought a raf simons coat there a few months ago

I remember hearing about that place a while ago but was never certain where it was hidden. Do you just let them know that you want in the back or is there a door or something?

                  There's a door (I think it's actually the wall...but yea).

I think the CDG gorilla store is going to be in a totally different space though, not in the back of Blends...

yeah you just have to ask to shop in the back, there is a sliding door that opens when they take you back there. Tak the owner is usually there if hes not out of town or in meetings.

yea that would make sense, alsosince the guerilla stores are often run by local artists/designers or such, so I'm guessing the bank gallery might be housing the store.
