    YSL for Atelier

    From Hint blog:

    "Just In: YSL for Atelier

Yes, you read that right. Yves Saint Laurent's Stefano Pilati has collaborated with Atelier New York on a capsule men's collection for spring. We're told the 17 pieces, produced entirely in Italy, retain all the luxury you'd expect from YSL, but injected with the gothy goodness that is the Atelier aesthetic. The star of the collection is a "very" limited-edition bag, only six of which have been made. It doesn't much more exclusive than this."

Doesn't seem like such a bad idea given Stefano's recent darker leanings...

damn, i love what pilati has been doing at YSL, this has the potential to be fantastic.

I can already envision the atelier version of the rolling sneakers... by far the sleakest of the "big tongue" sneakers out there

The cashmere trench is EXACTLY what I've been looking for lately. But I hate to imagine what the price is...

Cashmere trench is the only thing that I like from this collection
I would buy it depends on the thickness and price...

My sentiment as well. I'm not very familiar with YSL heritage, but it looks to me like Atelier is looking for a 'substitute' for Yohji in their designer lineup (I presume they're not carrying Yohji anymore?)

I'd never wear it, but if I see it in person I may have to try it on.
The collection is a definite miss for me. But I can see how aspects of it would fit well into others wardrobes. May look good with some Doma pieces.
He took oversized to the next level gabardine coat. And that level is a bit too much.

I like that oversize gabardine coat, think it would be a good wardrobe staple if you are of a taller frame.

Behold the future guys. luxury brands designing collections
exclusively for stores. Probably saves them a hell of a lot of money and time on shows and PR and makes sales almost definite. Good job stefano.

Id like to see what a Raf simons for atelier capsule collection would look like

I don't think this is anything new...recollect all of the Target and "fill in the blank" designer collabs and collections; Colette for the Gap; Ugo Cacciatori and Diesel, etc. Besides, most exclusive boutiques often negotiate exclusives with designers (either colors, fabrics, styles, etc).

I think the curious change at Atelier is the waning Japanese presence...Undercover, Number (N)ine, Attachment, Lument et Umbra, Individual Sentiments, the Viridi anne.

I'm probably over stating an obvious observation.

The 3rd jacket down is really cute and funny. I hope it's just a bad camera angle giving the balloon effect :)
