    Plokhov Leaving Versace

    Plokhov Leaving Versace...

MOVING ON: After three successful years helping design Versace’s men’s wear with Donatella Versace, Alexander Plokhov is amicably parting ways with the fashion firm. The Russian-born Plokhov, who worked at the now-defunct Cloak for six years prior to joining Versace, is off to pursue other interests. Versace is actively looking to fill the position that will report to Donatella Versace. In six seasons, Plokhov helped the company set a new template for the Versace man, removing him from his glitzy rocker past to pursue a cleaner and more modern direction.

I think he did well for Versace. It's become a lot less kitsch over the past few seasons, and he hid Donatella's lack of talent well. It didn't seem like his "thing" though.

I just came here to post this and saw MikeNouveau beat me to it!

I wonder if he'll be out of fashion for good now or find somewhere else to design. I can't see him re-opening cloak or starting a new label, running Cloak seemed very stressful for him and if it couldn't survive the first time around I don't' see it working in these economic times. Still, I hope he can get signed on to a house where that he has creative control because I selfishly miss his designs.

(I think the "him" in the last sentence refers to the Versace man...)

Maybe Balmain can hire him to revamp the image of their man as well.

I would like to see a well written before and after kind of comparison with images to illustrate his impact on the house. I cant say I could even stand looking at the shows after about a season or two of trying to keep up with his work there.
