I distinctly remember someone being banned for simply typing jewrius.

I dont think Christian is a racist, merely that it is offensive to dress up in a manner resembling a certain sub-culture strongly associated with a certain race and then use a word with highly offensive connotations regarding that race.

Its not a matter of political correctness but of tact and taste.

I hate getting involved in arguments like these, but I feel compelled. The word Christian typed, with the "-az" ending is, within that subculture you refer to (as far as I understand), distinctly different from the phonetically similar morpheme with the "-er" ending. Within that subculture, the "-az" ending is simply a synonym for other members of that group. Recently, that has expanded to include members of other races. It's just a way to refer to people within the group. While slightly uncommon, members who do not pertain to that group do use the term. This practice seems quite rampant over at Superfuture.

If you ask me, I think the proliferation of the usage of the word, and all its variants, is in poor taste, regardless of the "subculture" the user belongs to. But hey, I'm quite pedantic about word usage, so what do I know.

My point is, while I find every usage of the word tasteless, I don't regard Christian's usage of the word any more tasteless than I would if it came from a member of the "subculture" you referred to.

I don't necessarily think it is a stupid subject, even though I agree its not worth discussing here.
I think sometimes we get too worked up about these things.
I agree with Sombre, that the use of the word is often tasteless, even though I don't think it is in every instance.

The problem is that one ought to know how to discern between genuine humor (in Chants case) and when someone is intending to offend. i have seen many instances where individuals take offense to the use of a word or some kind of act, when the user of the word had no intention to offend. this to me is where maturity lies, in knowing when to take offense and when not to..................

the problem lies in execution, probably.
