Interesting to hear your thoughts Pip, I actually think this season is amazing and I've loved his fabrics lately. The pebble cotton is fantastic and the cotton/linen blend he is using is also quite nice. Very Spring type weights to all of it.

those who could save up before (& survive on ramen) now have more pressing concerns. people who didn't think twice about spending $2000 on a leather shirt then, likely won't think all that much about spending $3400 either.

merz you've said this before and i think you're wrong. everybody is thinking twice, nobody is spending money, up and down, top to bottom. the market is in free fall. people are waiting because they know they will get better deals 3-6 months from now. dealers aren't coming down because of their pride. its time to revise your theory.

i just don't think you're looking at what is happening right now. this has nothing to do with ballerdom. this is the state of commerce. people are going out of business. people that had disposable income that kept business' afloat no longer do. and if they do they are waiting because there's no need to buy anything now, when it will be there in the future for much less. this is a horrible time.

you cant expect a designer to predict the moment. and with the euro fluctuations and dealers needs and greeds price points aren't really left up to designer.

and i agree the only things that sell now are masterpieces (with small discounts too)

That's not entirely true. Stores are often monitored to avoid underpricing and upsetting the network of "dealers".

Being a non baller myself- I'm still not living my life in fear, hoarding my money for the day I am to get laid off. With what money I do have, I try to at least live my life the same way and enjoy the things I like; Recession or not. Maybe I am just being an optimist though....

i'm not living in fear either, actually i'm having a better time in my life than when i could be a baller because i never really understand money and what to do with it. i'm just saying understand what's happening, don't live in denial, and the cop cop cop attitude will get you into trouble. adjust to the times, but live your life. these are exciting times, the playing field has been leveled again, and the true innovative mystics will rise above.

No I agree. I'm more relating to everything you hear on the news, or at work, etc. Everyone I talk to is hunkering down like it's Y2k and not having a good time, only talking about the bad. Like you said, things are leveling out and I see it as a good thing. It's sad when you know others that have been directly effected, but things will get better. Like you, I'm having a good time as well. :)
