great stuff but prices definitely hurt. looks like i'll be sticking to the second hand market as always. even with sales at 50% right now i don't even bother looking cuz i know it'll all still be too expensive for me. when you look at RO's place in the other thread these prices areinsulting. i'd love to see what their profit margins are.

I bet their profits are good but not extravagant. The thing is, is that most of these companies work with such a small staff as well and when you don't have to pay a bunch of employees, that helps. The shows and all that have to add up to quite a bit though.

BTW- Are stores already at 50%?!

Damn, now I'm anticipating F/W 09 sales already! This stuff is gorgeous, I knew that vest would break 1k, but I guess that pleating does look intricate. I'm drooling over that blazer with the pleating on the lapel and inside, but even on sale I think it will be too much. That blazer could be grail status for me so maybe I'll try to sell some stuff to justify it later.I actually really like the flower brooch. This collection gives me an image of some long dead dandy from the bayou who was just resurrected and is walking around with dried moss and flowers stuck to him. That little flower pin sums that romantic image up for me.At least this reminds me to be prudent in my summer shopping, because fall will bring even better stuff. Now I just have to win the lottery...

thanks for the pics Cas - despite some overlapping similarities in Ann and Yohji's work i never quite felt i was able to relate to the former as far as incorporating the stuff into my wardrobe goes - but there's definitely some good stuff there. I love the completely arbitrary and random nature of the absolute value of the pricing...2002? hahahahah

The brooches from this season are cheap.

The prices are crazy, but that's to be expected as I said a few months ago somewhere else. Remember SS08 buys were done at about $1.25 to 1 EUR, the FW08 buys were done with about $1.50 to 1 EUR. God does not bless America.

Generally, now I don't know about other stores in the US,
but AR has ridiculous mark ups. I remember prices on the
trousers and shirt I bought in London, from aw07/08, was
around $150-200 more at AR. I would imagine on more
expensive items, like coats, jackets and such, its even more.

Anyways, thank you Casius for the photos, I really love this,
quite beautiful. It looks like I'm gonna have some colour back
in my wardrobe for autumn! [87] [51] ...

You are right - they do orient themselves towards Japan, so even their markups are a bargain to the Japanese.
