Many of these brands are just variations of the same aesthetic. having said that, i realize that The Bay is still The Bay and maybe i just got excited a few years ago when they started carrying Junya, CDG and Margiela for women. In many ways, a store like TNT has more of major department store feel when it comes to buys for apparel
In my opinion working in retail for many years, A.P.C or Filippa K its not even close to being the same aesthetic of Drkshdw. Our clients "now" wouldn't pay for a drkshdw tee retail for 320+ cdn, when they can get an A.P.C tee for 98 cdn, its definitely a matter of taste and how much a person really appreciates a designers artwork and has enough money to spend. Also, woman shop more than men, thats why THE ROOM is more successful, plus Nick the Creative director knows what to buy and also they have the budget for it, millions and millions annually..that explains why the Room is still in business.

if you're looking for basic work and alterations, Studio Kim is a good one to go to.

Sydney's is now basically devoid of brands discussed on SZ, they had a major change over. TNT carried some Juyna Watanabe, YYPH, Greg Lauren and a probably couple other brands that are within that realm. Across the hall where the women's section is, there is plenty of RO and the like. Also in the women's only category and near The Serpentine, is 119 Corbo, which carries Ann, RO, Haider, Dries, MMM, etc. Holt's also carries some ladies RO and is in the vicinity.

thanks blackfedora! guess I'll just check out The Serpentine, then focus on the touristy stuff and finding some decent eats.

There's a shop called Da Zoo at King and Portland that carries Rick Owens, Geoffrey B Small, Undercover, Berg Fabel and perhaps some others that might interest. Men's and Women's. Not really sure about the story behind the shop but it's on the south side of King St.
