I would like to suggest adding Auto-Da-Fe by Elias Canetti to the selection. It's one of the books I have a most vivid memory of (especially the image of the mental library), and I think a lot of SZers could like it

/\ No, I agree. But I've never seen the Arcades Project. For real. Actually, next time we are in Paris, we should do our own Arcades Projects. Starting with Palais Royal.
I feel like if we add all of Frankfurt school, SZ servers will collapse under intellectual weight of modernism. But, hey, as long as we don't add Judith Butler...Fashion is a form of ugliness so intolerable that we have to alter it every six months - Oscar Wilde

Faust, you could even put it under architecture, if you want.......I mean the ephemeral, the fugitive, the contingent, the half of art whose other half is the eternal and the immutable.

anyone have book recommendations for a fashion anthology / narrative of dress amongst & along different cultures + time periods?
was also hoping for a general introduction to the history of modern fashion---from antwerp up to perhaps the early 2000s/// helmut+hedi etc.
basically, i need some style maps (¡circuitous intersections!)
