Sony is taking significant strides in expanding its gaming content for television, with upcoming shows based on popular titles such as God of War and Horizon. The latest update on these projects was shared during Sony's Consumer Electronics Show event, where Sony Pictures Television president Katherine Pope confirmed that the writing process has commenced for both series.
"We're delighted to have writing underway on two new IP-based projects," Pope announced, shedding light on the positive development of these highly anticipated TV adaptations.
In addition to the God of War and Horizon TV shows, Pope revealed that the team at Sony Pictures TV is eagerly working on Season 2 of the Twisted Metal series for Peacock.
While details about the content of the God of War and Horizon TV shows remain scarce, it is known that the God of War series is being produced for Prime Video, while the Horizon show is destined for Netflix.
PlayStation Productions, Sony's internal division dedicated to bringing PlayStation game franchises to the TV and film medium, is spearheading both the God of War and Horizon projects. Notably, PlayStation Productions is also responsible for bringing beloved games like Gravity Rush and Ghost of Tsushima to the big screen.
Expanding the scope of collaboration, PlayStation Pictures has joined forces with Nintendo to develop a live-action The Legend of Zelda movie, featuring key figures such as Shigeru Miyamoto and Marvel's Avi Arad.
