Rick Owens Men's FW2010 Paris

the white coat looks a bit like Jil Sander to me (not Armani). She made a collection with coats that looked like made from padded material, slightly cocoon shape. It was beautiful. Part of this collection looks really feminine (which is not a bad thing:)

Well observed, nqth! This was in fact one of my favourite collections of hers when she briefly returned to her signature label. I'd wish she'd inject a little bit of quirk as she did back then to the clothes she's now designing for J+, but that's an entirely different story...

Anyway, here's another shearling from the collection that didn't make it on the runway but was available in the showroom. The way the collar drapes is a bit reminiscent of Rick's best selling funnel neck biker from the women's line:

Didn't Raf do those coats? I thought they were in one of the first collections he did for the label.

I like this collection, but it is a little disappointing, especially after his effortless work last season. Corduroy is pretty terrible, especially in those 'layered' jackets. The suiting looks really good, but the shoulders look more extreme than usual on some of the coats. It might be hard to pull off without looking like costume. The basics look really great though, and I love the colour palette - earth tones play off each other well, and I like the mix-and-match sense between the different colours and textures. As with last F/W, the best looks are the most minimal ones.
