It was only a little over a month ago that the cult Japanese designer Takahiro Miyashita announced his departure from his last label, TAKAHIROMIYASHITATheSoloist.

Today is 9/9 on the calendar, and he has teased what is potentially the most exciting news of this year in this corner of the fashion universe, the relaunch of Number (N)ine under his auspices. We have learned last week in Tokyo that a new Instagram account @numberninebytakahiromiyashita was recently launched, whose first follower was Takahiro Miyashita’s personal account. Today, a cryptic message, “Back, I missed you. Number(N)ine by Takahiro Miyashita” appeared on it. While the designer declined to comment for now, it is obvious what is happening, and we are here for it!

Miyashita did want to clear the air about one thing, the recent announcement of the Supreme x Number (N)ine collaboration, which he stressed he has absolutely nothing to do with. What the new Number (N)ine will look like is anyone’s guess at this point, but knowing Miyashita’s formidable talent and his strong and genuine connection to youth culture, we expect great things.
