I'm Oskar. My favourite things are whisky, clothes and music. In that order.
My top three pieces of clothing are, a henriksson hooded top in wool from Zam, a kangaroo leather jacket from Collateral and a pair of nurse boots from Sruli Recht. I'm fascinated by suits but hardly ever have any occasions to wear them. That'll do for now.

          Hi

          Hello everyone !

          New girl on SZ !
I've been checking this forum for a while now, so here I am (In fact I tried to register today and realized I was registered since may....So weird, I really don't remember registering).

Well what can I say ?
I have an unconditional love for Yohji Yamamoto and Junya Watanabe, among others.
I'm 22 but not for long.
I love clothes, but I don't like "fashion".

Well, I'll post in others topics for the rest !
          See you soon !

Welcome ! "Clothes, not fashion", actually. I could have signed that.
I can see a hat, I can see a cat,
I can see a man with a baseball bat.

Welcome, new peeps. Very happy that more women have been registering and posting lately. I've always envisioned SZ as a place for both sexes.

                                Hi everyone,

Since I finally registered I may as well introduce myself. I'm 24 years old and I live in Paris, I work in a small management consulting firm which has no link whatsoever with the fashion business or anything related. I've been interested in clothing, fashion and costume history for as far as I can remember. My mother used to be a fashion designer, I grew up surrounded with old fashion magazines, drawings, books on the subject, the sound of the sewing machine, and sketches and fabrics pinned on giant pannels to be presented in fashion exhibitions. My interest varied over time, at some point I started associating it with some kind of shallowness, but it re-developped a few years ago.

I am very interested in vintage clothing, both male and female, as a parallel to the evolution of society, behaviours and archetypes, my period of choice being between the Victorian era and the early 60s. I concentrate mainly on Western clothing, but I recently started to pay interest to Japanese costume history, being interested in Japanese arts and culture in general. Iconic designers I particularly like would be Yohji Yamamoto, Vivienne Westwood, Azzedine Alaïa. As for more contemporary designers, my favourite would be Ann Demeulemeester, hands down. I also like early Margiela, Hussein Chalayan, Alexander McQueen, Haider Ackermann, part of Marni's deisgns for their structure and irony, Jil Sander's cleaniness. I find a lot interest in Undercover, CCP, Rei Kawabuko and Junya Watanabe, although I often can't relate to their designs (but I do love some CdG sometimes). As for menswear, apart from those quoted above, my interest in it is still very recent and I enjoy learning about designers everyday.

I like clean silhouettes with subtle details - texture contrasts, asymetry; research on volume, androgynous looks, subdued romanticism, contrast between military-like rigour and delicate frivolity. I don't necessarily dress these ways, I like to put a lot of irony in the way I dress.
I've been lurking around here for a while, I hesitated before registering since I'm not sure of how I can contribute, being neither a specialist on any topic or a professionnal. I hope my curiosity and personnal references will be enough. And I apologize for my English, it's a bit rusty.

And, I guess that'll be all.
