Recently, I really like a specific type of techno, I am not sure whether a name for it exists. It is rather dark, a bit slower and has that specific rhythm. I had a hard time finding tracks resembling this pattern as I heard most of it during a Grounded Theory gig, played by Blawan.
But this song delivers a good idea of what I'm talking about.

I would be more than happy if you guys know similar tracks or artists and labels I can look into.
Yeah this is a halfstep fusion of techno, industrial and dub a lot of people have been getting into. Look into artists Dadub, Tommy Four Seven, Death Abyss, Unbalance, Tomohiko Sagae, Blacksun. Oake and Regis also have some impressive stuff in this register.
If you want to check a couple albums:
Dadub -- You are Eternity
Death Abyss -- Dominate Through Will
Tommy Four Seven - Primate
It feels slower because it isn't a 4x4 kick pattern but is the same BPM as what you're usually hearing in the club -- makes for some interesting rhythmic possibilities when mixing.
@Arkady - awesome, thanks for the suggestions. Dadub just played live here a couple of weeks ago. I wasn't really into their live sets but the records indeed sound exactly like what I was describing. Thanks!
I have dreams of orca whales and owls
But I wake up in fear
I love their sound, too!
...Altought the definition "two german dudes" might be a little demeaning, since we are talking 'bout Mark Ernestus and Moritz von Oswald, aka Basic Channel, aka Maurizio, aka Basic Channel, aka Quadrant, aka the Masters of dub techno... and of techno
If you like their sound, search for the other names: you won't be disapponited!
Also Objekt played my tiny home town in 100 capacity venue and I missed it. With M.E.S.H, (originally meant to be Bill Kouligas as support but he had to drop out).
