i am going to take a few of my work prints including the one back there with the scratch to a pro lab to see what kind of 8X10 prints they can make, start sending them out as a sequenced portfolio of about 15 images here and there, got some good feedback on this mini-portfolio today, just need to keep adding images and editing the order for optimum visual coherence and effect.

well the final 15 has all been uploaded here more or less already in scattered posts, it just looks better, more visually coherent in that particular order seeing the selected shots lined up in sequence. won't repost the scans again, will wait till I get the more professional looking prints from the lab if they turn out to be any good. to be honest i'm a bit anxious over all this printing business myself...my main interest is in the image first and foremost, have never been a patient technician...

Thats the tricky bit, to master the art of capturing the image you want... and then for that to be translated to the final printed image!
So much feeling and emotion can be "lost" via a bad print, or more to the point. Depending how a print in made can completely change the image.
Personally speaking I would just get two or three prints made, see how they come out and discuss with the lab if there are any issues. Take them home have a really good look over a few days, then you can continue.
If you have put so much effort in the capturing, see this through!
It is allot of time, but you will be well rewarded.
Enjoy!

oh ok, you made it sound like you were scanning prints.
you should make a set of fine prints to show when meeting someone in person (not in plastic sleeves, but individually mounted prints), a few portfolios for someone to borrow if they ask for it, and call cards (like post cards) with your contact to send to photo editors and others who you might think would be interested.
