went back to grandma's place before she moves out in the coming week to see what i could get with another roll of Fujifilm Natura 1600...my Grandma's Album portfolio is now officially done at 30 images.

yeah fucking expensive though, $58 bucks a pop at Wing Shing in Mong Kok (both the one on Sai Yeung Choi Street and the other one two blocks down carry it, as well as Man Shing across the road). I only used this film ever for shooting the Grandma's Album series as its chiaroscuro and texture was best suited for the subject and how I wanted it portrayed. I don't think these photos would look anywhere near as good in Portra.

The film seems perfect for shooting Hong Kong in particular, probably more so than any other city or even place I can think of. Those 2 photos i posted yesterday were from the same roll when I was walking from the photo supplies store to Grandma's.

I am going to start work on a book of photos taken on the Hong Kong subway trains...after Walker Evans and Araki's New York and Tokyo respectively it is only natural I do the MTR. Already got a few good ones in the bag it's only a matter of getting about a hundred more.

Sorry for mass posting, I've been invited to submit to a festival in Perpignan, later in summer, this is what I've narrowed my submission down to. Would like thoughts on any that are weak, don't fit, etc.

The concept is "tension/juxtaposition" of old & modern culture (at least at its most basic level). I have to work on the greater write up.

#1, 3, 7 and 8 work best for me. I would remove #6, the photo's composition is not as consistent with everything else in the series. I think the sequencing could be stronger, as viewed in the current order some of the juxtapositions/associations seem a bit arbitrary, and the back-to-back transition from 9-10 on the other hand seems too obvious, perhaps leave some space in between them by reconfiguring the series...
