ledger – Really love each. Is that a wine cork I'm seeing, plummeting to its demise? The fact that there is no perspective to focus on in that photo leaves the imagination wide open. You could tell someone it was the top of a barn falling to the ground, and they couldn't argue with you.

I see Man Ray in the hand. Of course I just watched Un chein Andalou, so there's that... The stairs are my favorite. Foreboding and luxurious, all in one glance.

Here's my DADA moment, by total accident:

It's what happens when you check your teeth for any trace of the spinach you just ate, setting your little mirror down beside a glass bottle on the table. Converted it to b&w, over-amplified the edges, and voila–instant Surrealism!

**photo, by total coincidence, was taken where I first had madeleines: at Fauchon, rooftop garden cafe, Paris.

Those madeleines look tasty tasty interest

and I'll agree with FtB's assessment, ledger...that first one kept me going back for more...

ledger, i'm partial to the soot covered hand. high-contrast is always win for me..

after looking at mapplethorpe's flowers book (which i think was the benchmark for still-life florals at the time), i think i need to revisit this subject with more exotics and not deli flowers..but still, there's the challenge of making deli flowers look good.

                ^^^

I really like the one 4 down from the top, gives off the portentous vibe of a handheld shot documentary.

endersgame - that photo is genius, my favorite of yours.

Thanks! I'm not very good at taking pictures and probably don't know how to get the best results out of my camera, but every once in a while I take one that I like.

ftb, i was thinking of what you said about avanster and how you wished you could take pictures as well as he.. i think you have a style and rapport of your very own and to shoot the way he does is inconceivable to me. it's like switching writing hands..

km80, the uprooted tree is amazing..

and the bowery version of the red light district. these stainless-steel beauties are ready to show you a good time..

i plan on learning about cameras and stuff more seriously soon, get to taking some real pictures.

Totally agree with endersgame. FTB, you should never feel discouraged by a great photo, you should be inspired. Actually I think you should remove that post because it is simply not true!!
