Well, I redact my HTC Hero comment, doesn't look like anyone in the US is picking up, sadly. Oh well, iPhone is in the mail and on it's way... What is the best task manager app? Or really, to second Faust, best apps in general?

PageOnce Personal Assistant is good.
Really depends on your lifestyle. The ones I find most useful:
Remote - turns your iPhone into a remote for your Mac
PhoneFlix - a Netflix app (great, cause when a movie pops into my head, i can instantly add it)
NYT and WSJ for news
Ebay/PayPal for you know what
TrackerLite - to track packages from multiple carriers
Yelp - for restaurant rating on the go
Fandango - lets you buy movie tix from your phone
Skype - self explanatory

I simply use the calendar + notes for task managing.
also,
iReal SMS - if you prefer your texts to be in folders like in most cellphones (apple, wtf)
Swirly MMS - only if you want to send/receive MMS
Palringo - IM program that supports MSN, Yahoo, AIM etc.
Shazam - recognizes popular music based on a ~10 sec clip (works incredibly well)"AVANT GUARDE HIGHEST FASHION. NOW NOW this is it people, these are the brands no one fucking knows and people are like WTF. they do everything by hand in their freaking secret basement and shit."

I actually used Shazam at a stadium once and it got it!
Got my Google Voice invite. Been playing around with it - pretty neat... but not for someone like me who has one phone number at this point, lol.Fashion is a form of ugliness so intolerable that we have to alter it every six months - Oscar Wilde

yea it often surprises me by working from a good distance and recognizing some not so mainstream tracks.
some time ago I was reading about the recognition method they use, pretty interesting: http://www.ee.columbia.edu/~dpwe/pap...g03-shazam.pdf
this describes the older system they had which required people to call into their system, but the basic function is the same with the iphone software."AVANT GUARDE HIGHEST FASHION. pandora radio - sometimes nice.
simplist - super lightweight adaptable list maker.
facebook/twitterfon/etcetc
drync - for tracking wine. I have a shit memory.
I have NY and DC metro maps

I managed to trade with some guy on craigslist, finally got the thing running after experiencing this whole "apple of death" problem that happened when trying to restore it.
Extremely excited by all the possible apps for it, and I'm wondering if I should get it jailbroken.

if you don't have any worries regarding warranty (jailbreaking will probably void it?), then absolutely."AVANT GUARDE HIGHEST FASHION. Yeah, it's just a pain the ass, as you lose all of your settings.
And there is speculation out that with 3.1 will have more security measures in place to prevent jailbreaking, and if you're going the IBEC and iBBS route, you may lose features. Only speculation at the moment, as the SDK doesn't provide many details for it. In our lab we're just happy to be able to access the camera "legally".Remember, be here now.

And I was actually going to try and argue with you on you're MacBook Pro comment, but I just did some looking around, and fuck me, you're right. I personally dislike the Apple interface. Saying that I love my Dell XPS 1330, but it doesn't look like they offer it anymore, they've switched it to a "Studio XPS" which still looks like a good deal, and on par with the Mac, spec wise...And for an extra $100 you get a Dell10.Remember, be here now.
