while not a post about my favorite piece of art, I decided to post this here - i went to gagosian online to check out their books, hoping to purchase a tom friedman edition. To my disgust the first page was a piece of so-called art by the artist Pharrell Williams. Ugh.
I then clicked on "Artists" and found on the lower right hand corner an artist I haven't seen on the Gagosian site - Gus Van Sant, with a picture looking an awful lot like an Elizabeth Peyton piece. I clicked on it. James fucking Franco.
WTF. What the hell is going on?
enders those are nice compositions but they look photoshopped to death...i dunno, maybe just a case of personal preference but i rather like looking at photos that don't look so 'artificial'
i have a postcard of that first one and it looks exactly like a thomas demand picture (although demand's pictures are not fake, but looks like it). florian shoots film and alters them digitally and a lot of his work is in infra-red. but like the yt video says, he's not into the becher style of photography..
"He described this initial impetus as like discovering that they both were looking at the same intriguing specific tropical fish, with attempts to understand it leading to a huge ferocious formalism he characterizes as a shark that leapt out of the tank."
I came across this moron's pathetic excuse for art while searching for some sony monitors. Just watch the first minute. LEAST favorite art of all-time. Note to self - don't ever enroll in the NYU mfa program. Jesus Christ.
Went to go see the Tara Donovan sculpture at pace yesterday.
Amazing.
can't believe tara donovan's crafty ass is showing at pace. she must have done some serious favors. What's next? Jen Stark's arts and crafts next to the Rothkos and Rymans? ugh
